About 1Big Database

The 1BigD partnership meets monthly to review the database and agree future developments. The organisations are:

• Bath & North East Somerset Family Information Service
• Bristol Children & Young People.s Information Service
• South Gloucestershire Children & Young People Information Service
• Connexions West of England
• The Care Forum (Voluntary Organisation)

The directory holds a large range of information which include national and local organisations which offer support, advice and guidance on issues such as parenting support, advice for young people, equalities, health, parenting courses housing, disability, keeping safe, legal advice, arts, leisure and learning and skills. The national organisations within the database cover topics such as drug and alcohol abuse, child protection, syndromes and disorders, benefit advice, domestic abuse, mediation and grants and funding. These National organisations often have local branches to which they can direct enquirers.

1BigD is regularly updated and amended and welcomes applications from organisations that wish to be included in 1BigD that offer activities, information, or support to children and young people aged 0 - 20 years and their parents/carers.

1BigD is regularly publicised through council websites, information leaflets, newsletters, bookmarks given out with information packs to parents/carers, and promoted at events such as The Bristol Balloon Fiesta and Bradley Stoke Festival. We have also had a promotional give away produced - a fold up Frisbee which advertises 1BigD and relevant partners.

Information Services, One-Stop-Shops, Schools, Children's Centres and professionals across the authorities use the directory to search for information that they may require for themselves or to support parents/carers.

Our latest development is the new interface with an improved search facility and an events calendar. Also there is a facility to email a page to someone, and print information in pdf format. As this is an evolving service there should be more developments in the future, so watch this space!
